Sourav Ganguly Confirmed As The Team Director, 9 Reasons Why He’s The Perfect Choice

With the talks of making Dada the next team director almost confirmed, I just couldn’t stop myself from compiling the top 9 reasons why he will kick ass as the Indian team director. Read on!

1. Turned around the Indian team in the early 2000’s

He was made the Indian Cricket captain when the team was going through the whole match fixing scandal and the axing top players like Azharudin and Ajay Jadeja being dropped out of the team. The Indian team at that had more problems than solutions. After being made captain lead India to a series win over South Africa in the five match one day series and led the team to the finals of the 2000 ICC Knock Out Trophy. He scored two centuries, including one in the final.

2. Natural eye for spotting talent

A good cricket team needs to have exuberance of youth and the experience of veterans. Sometimes you need to stick with the young guns, persevere with them and motivate them when things are not going well for them. Dada has the natural eye for spotting young talent and the grit the to stick with them when the time is tough. Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sewag and Zaheer Khan all were Dada’s find

3. True Fighter

Apart from resurrecting the Indian cricket team after the fixing scandal, Dada is also known as the king of comebacks, After being dropped after the Greg Chappell fiasco, everyone wrote Ganguly off, but her returned and how!  In his first ODI match after comeback, he scored 98 against West Indies, leading India to vicotry. Later he carried the same form to England, where he did well with the bat and also with the bowl. His first 23 matches after comeback contained 12 half centuries. Ganguly was now called the come back king. Then came the Pakistan test series, in which Ganguly scored a 100 and 200 in consecutive games.

4.  Has a tremendous overseas record as a captain

Surely the best captain India has had in overseas conditions, His resourcefulness with the team paid dividend most of the times, his knack of understanding the conditions is remarkable. The Indian which has recently struggled in overseas conditions, could very well use his insights

5. Not afraid to speak his mind

He spoke openly against Greg Chappell’s coaching, when most of the team kept mum, Dada openly criticized his coaching, He also openly backed Dhoni as the captain when the team was struggling in Australia

6. #DadaSwag

You are either born with or you’re not. Sourav Ganguly has amazing flair and flamboyance or what we call #DadaSwag. We already have a Kohli in our team, just imagine the intensity if dada joins him in the dressing room

7.  Known for his Aggressive intent

Be it his batting or captaincy, Ganguly was always known for his controlled aggression. He was mostly one step ahead of his opposition and there was method in his madness

8. Has succeeded in almost every thing he has done

He is an epic commentator, he successfully hosted the Bengali version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, His owned team(Atheltico De Kolkata) won the inaugural ISL. Need we say more?

9. Respected worldwide as a player

Still don’t believe me ? Here’s what other legends have to say about Ganguly
